The Bikinis entertain at Northport Music Theater

NORTHPORT – The Northport Music Theater in its fifth season presented “The Bikinis” opening night Friday, July 22 to an enthusiastic crowd battling the heat, made harder by the energy put out on stage by four talented women and an outstanding band. The show stars Kathleen Hawkes (Jodi), Kim Murphy (Annie), Kathy Christie (Karla), and Alison Manion (Barbara). The Bikinis is directed by Peter Clain, music director is John Gelsinger and the artistic director and Betty in the play is Ruth Gelsinger. The band features Ruth Gelsinger on piano, Tony Shay, best known for his work with Al Corey’s Big Band on drums, Stefan Low, a guitar player that plays locally, is a treat to listen to. Lastly is Katrina Zemrack who has played a couple of plays at the Waterville Opera House and will be attending Columbia College of Chicago in the fall. While the Bikinis takes place on New Year’s Eve 1999, it is the story of middle aged band of ‘Jersey Girls’ that look back at their experience as a girl group when girl groups were the rage. This was no April fools joke

The snow storm that hit the state April 1, 2011 was a cruel joke from Mother Nature that managed to postpone spring for a few more days. This photo was taken at about midday during the height of the storm. Can anyone tell me where this is? Just enter a comment below if you think you know.

Maggie turns 11 months old

Maggie May Hawkes will turn 11 months old Saturday. Maggie is one of the best behaved puppies I have ever seen. She is my friend and those who know me understand that is a big deal. I have spent most of my life afraid of dogs, but Maggie is doing everything she can to end that fear. Like most Labs she loves to chew and she enjoys chasing and returning anything I will throw. She loves to play and gets so proud when she chases a stick or a ball and brings it back to me. Here are a few photos of Maggie from two days before her 11 month birthday.
